Maintaining the grass
Grass maintenance: overall grass care
Mosses are a frequent occurrence in grass lawns. Mosses are cryptogams. You can kill mosses by scattering or spraying iron sulphate in March. It is important to use iron sulphate in wet conditions and to avoid mowing a couple of days before and after the treatment to prevent damaging the lawn. Iron sulphate is often available in combination with fertilizers, as proper simulation of grass growth is a vital ingredient within moss control. The dead moss can be raked or aerated from the grass after three weeks.
Grass maintenance: fertilization
A lawn needs more than air alone and therefore it needs to be fertilized on a regular basis. Load-supporting grass needs a lot of nutriments. There is a standard fertiliser for load-supporting lawns which has been adjusted to the special needs of the grass in accordance with user intensity and quality requirements.

1. Protein growth
2. Cell construction
3. Continuous growth
4. Regenerative strength
Grass maintenance: mowing
Mowing is needed when the grass is 4 cm high. In the first three weeks, the grass may not be mown any shorter to prevent damaging the grass. After this period, the mowing height can be gradually reduced to 3 cm, according to personal preference. The mowing height of the grass determines the mowing frequency, i.e. the shorter you mow the grass the more often you need to mow it. Bear in mind that the shorter you mow the field, the more vulnerable the grass will be become.
Grass maintenance: tips
* Level molehills, if present.
* Roll the lawn.
* Use iron sulphate to kill moss or use a combination of fertilizers.
* After three weeks, rake/aerate and remove. Aerate with pronged fork aerator, if needed.
* Scatter a suitable lawn mixture to reduce threadbare patches.
* Fertilize using NPK (25 gr/m2) or equal fertilizer.
* Dress with organic material (mix a well decomposed compost with 1/3 parts of sand, apply a layer of 2 cm), if needed.
* After three weeks, start mowing at 4 cm. This can be gradually reduced to 3 cm after three weeks. Continue to mow at this height.
