Our grass species

Our climate is especially well-suited for growing grass. Grass is available in all kinds and sizes. Most common types are grass for sports fields, lawns and fields; there are thousands of species in the world. All these fall under the gramineae. Europe's best grass growers enhanced these species and types to the current high-quality ones we use to grow the very best top layers. As a result, our grass mats are well-suited to many climate zones (warm season / cold season) and, as such, can be used multi-functionally if maintained properly.

From seedling to commercial success, different grass mats are assessed and monitored on their many genetic properties and qualities. After proving the quality on the test fields, they are sown on the fields at Hendriks Graszoden. Grass types we monitor regularly are types from the Kentucky bluegrass, English ryegrass (also with RPR) and red fescue families.
Properties we focus on, among others are:
•    Colour
•    Density of the mat
•    Tolerance to walking
•    Disease resistance
•    Regenerative ability
•    Root formation
